أُعِيذُكَ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّةِ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ وَهَامَّةٍ، وَمِنْ كُلِّ عَيْنٍ لَامَّةٍ
I seek refuge for you with the perfect words of Allah, from every devil and every beast, and from every evil eye.

When to Read
This dua is beautifully suited for the moment a newborn arrives or is brought home. It can be recited by parents, grandparents, or any elder looking after the baby. It's a profound way to begin the child's life under Allah's protection, invoking His blessings for their inherent purity and protection from harm.
How to Read
Gently hold the newborn, or place your hand on their head or body. Recite the dua with sincerity and a clear intention for the child's well-being and protection. It's recommended to also perform 'dam' (lightly blowing with a touch of saliva) after reciting, as the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ did.

This supplication invokes the complete and perfect words of Allah, which are a source of immense protection. It safeguards the newborn from the whisperings of Shaitan (Satan) and the harm caused by envy or the 'evil eye' (al-'ayn). Narrated Ibn Abbas: The Prophet ﷺ used to seek refuge for Al-Hasan and Al-Husayn saying: 'U'eezuka bikalimatillahit-tammati min kulli shaytanin wa hammatin, wa min kulli 'aynin lammatin' (I seek refuge for you with the perfect words of Allah, from every devil and every beast, and from every evil eye). Then he would say: 'Your father used to seek refuge with these words for Isma'il and Ishaq.' Sahih al-Bukhari 3308.
