Marriage & Wedding
Hasan HadithSunan Ibn Majah 1936

O Allah, foster love between them as You fostered love between Ibrahim and Sarah, and foster love between them as You fostered love between Yusuf and Zulaykha, and foster love between them as You fostered love between Musa and Safura.

Source & Authentication

It was narrated from Ibn Abbas that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: "If any of you marries a woman, he should take her by the forelock and pray for blessing, and say: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka khayraha wa khayra ma jabaltaha 'alayhi, wa a'udhu bika min sharriha wa sharri ma jabaltaha 'alayhi.' (O Allah, I ask You for the good of her and the good of what You have destined for her, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of her and the evil of what You have destined for her.) Then he should perform his prayer and invoke blessings, and take his own time." It was also narrated from him that when the Prophet ﷺ married Safiyyah bint Huyayy, he said: "Allahumma inni as'aluka an tu'lifa bayni wa baynaha." (O Allah, I ask You to foster love between me and her.) Then he said: "Allahumma aalif baynahuma kama aaltafata bayna Ibrahima wa Sarah, wa aalif baynahuma kama aaltafata bayna Yusuf wa Zulaykha, wa aalif baynahuma kama aaltafata bayna Musa wa Safura." (O Allah, foster love between them as You fostered love between Ibrahim and Sarah, and foster love between them as You fostered love between Yusuf and Zulaykha, and foster love between them as You fostered love between Musa and Safura.)
