โœฆ

Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers.

Rabbana zalamna anfusana wa il lam taghfir lana wa tarhamna lanakoonanna minal-khasireen

When to Read

This dua is deeply appropriate when you realize you've made a mistake that has negatively impacted your spouse, or your relationship with them. It's a moment of sincere regret, acknowledging your shortcomings and turning to Allah for both forgiveness and guidance. Recite it privately when you feel remorse, or even as part of your daily supplications, praying for your marriage to be strengthened by Allah's mercy.

How to Read

Recite this verse with humility and sincerity, directing your heart towards Allah. Picture yourself and your spouse, and ask Allah to forgive any wrong you may have committed. It's a powerful admission of our own fallibility and a reliance on Allah's boundless mercy. The essence is to feel the weight of the mistake and the hope in Allah's forgiveness. Speak it from the heart, allowing the words to wash over you and your intentions.

Virtues & Benefits

This beautiful verse from Surah Al-A'raf is a timeless lesson from the story of Adam and Eve (peace be upon them). Its recitation offers profound benefits: It teaches us humility by acknowledging our own 'แบ“ulm' (wrongdoing) against ourselves through our actions. It is a direct plea for Allah's forgiveness ('maghfirah') and mercy ('rahmah'), recognizing that without them, we are indeed among the 'khasireen' (losers). For a couple, making this dua together or individually after a spousal mistake can foster a deeper sense of accountability, mutual reliance on Allah, and strengthen the bond of their marriage through shared repentance and seeking Allah's grace.
