اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا.
O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision, and acceptable deeds.
Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.
When to Read
This dua is particularly potent when recited during the pre-dawn hours, specifically during Tahajjud (night prayer). The stillness of the night, when most of the world is asleep, offers a unique spiritual atmosphere for sincere supplication. It's a time when one's heart is often more focused and receptive to Allah's mercy. This dua can be made when facing any difficulty, big or small, as it encompasses seeking the best in knowledge, sustenance, and deeds, all of which are foundations for overcoming challenges.
How to Read
Begin with sincere intention, focusing your heart on Allah. It is recommended to start with praising Allah and sending blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Recite this dua with earnestness, acknowledging your reliance on Allah for all matters. Raising your hands during supplication is a Sunnah, though not strictly required for every dua. Maintain a state of mindfulness and certainty that Allah has the power to grant your request.
Virtues & Benefits
This concise yet comprehensive dua, taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, encapsulates three essential pillars for a successful life, both in this world and the next. Beneficial knowledge allows us to worship Allah correctly and navigate life's complexities. Goodly provision ensures we are sustained in ways that are pleasing to Allah and free from unlawful means. Acceptable deeds are those that are performed sincerely for Allah's sake and in accordance with His commands, earning His pleasure and reward. By asking for these three, we are essentially seeking Allah's help in establishing a strong foundation for overcoming any difficulty, knowing that we have His guidance, sustenance, and acceptance.
