اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا
O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision, and deeds accepted.
Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan
When to Read
This powerful supplication is particularly fitting during the blessed hours between Isha and Fajr. The night offers a unique stillness, away from the distractions of the day, making it an ideal time for sincere reflection and turning to Allah. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ encouraged seeking forgiveness and making dua during the late night, as it is a time when Allah descends to the lowest heaven, responding to those who call upon Him.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction, reflecting on its meaning. Raise your hands if you feel comfortable doing so, as this is a sign of seeking from Allah. It is recommended to offer this dua in a state of purity (wudu) if possible, though it is not strictly required for all duas. Focus on seeking Allah's acceptance of your knowledge, provision, and deeds, understanding that true success lies in His pleasure.
Virtues & Benefits
Asking for 'beneficial knowledge' means seeking understanding that benefits both the individual and others, leading to righteous action. 'Goodly provision' encompasses all that Allah provides, lawful and pure, which sustains us in this life and the next. And 'deeds accepted' is the ultimate aim – that our efforts in worship and service are acknowledged and rewarded by Allah. The Prophet ﷺ would often make this dua in the morning, and the night hours offer a similar opportunity for seeking these profound blessings.

Narrated Abu Hurairah: The Prophet (ﷺ) used to say: "O Allah, benefit me by what You have taught me, teach me that which will benefit me, and increase me in knowledge." He also used to say: "O Allah, unto You I have surrendered myself, and unto You I have directed my face, and unto You I have committed my affair, and unto You I have betaken myself for refuge, in reliance on You, and in fear of You. Verily there is no refuge nor deliverer from You but towards You. I believe in Your Book which You have revealed and in Your Prophet whom You have sent." And it was narrated from him that he would say: "O Allah, grant me beneficial knowledge, goodly provision, and acceptable deeds."
