Night Worship & Tahajjud
Sahih HadithSahih al-Bukhari 6356

O Allah, bestow Your blessings upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You bestowed Your blessings upon Ibrahim and upon the family of Ibrahim. Verily, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious. O Allah, bestow Your protection and goodness upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You bestowed Your protection and goodness upon Ibrahim and upon the family of Ibrahim. Verily, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious.

When to Read

This is the most comprehensive form of sending blessings (Salawat) upon the Prophet ﷺ, often recited in Tashahhud during prayer, but also highly recommended during Tahajjud. The late hours of the night, particularly during Tahajjud, are a blessed time for supplication and drawing closer to Allah. Making Salawat during this time is a beautiful way to honor the Prophet ﷺ and seek Allah's special attention to your duas.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and devotion, preferably after reciting Quran or making other supplications during your Tahajjud prayer. Ensure you pronounce the Arabic correctly if possible. Understanding the meaning amplifies the connection and sincerity. It's a powerful way to engage with Allah, acknowledging His blessings and the role of His Messenger ﷺ.

Virtues & Benefits

The Prophet ﷺ taught this specific phrasing of Salawat as the best way to ask Allah to bless him. He ﷺ also said: 'Whoever invokes blessings upon me once, Allah will shower blessings on him ten times.' (Sahih Muslim 388). Sending blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ during Tahajjud elevates your worship, purifies your heart, and is a direct way to seek Allah's favor and acceptance of your prayers.

Narrated Ka'b ibn 'Ujrah: We asked the Prophet ﷺ: 'O Messenger of Allah, how should we send blessings upon you?' (Sahih al-Bukhari 6356 and Sahih Muslim 405)
