اللَّهُمَّ بَيِّضْ وَجْهِي يَوْمَ تَبْيَضُّ وُجُوهٌ وَتَسْوَدُّ وُجُوهٌ

O Allah, whiten my face on the Day when faces will be whitened and faces will be blackened.

Allahumma bayyid wajhi yawma tabyaduddu wujuhun wa taswaddu wujuhun

When to Read

This dua is recited specifically when washing the face during the ritual washing (wudu) in the morning. It’s a beautiful supplication to make as you perform this purifying act, asking Allah to grant you a radiant countenance on the Day of Judgment.

How to Read

As you cup your hands and bring water to your face for the first wash, recite this dua with sincerity. Focus on the meaning: seeking Allah's mercy and light for your face on the Day when deeds are judged. Ensure you pronounce the Arabic clearly, understanding that the intention and devotion are paramount.

Narrated Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'When any one of you performs Wudu, let him cleanse his nose by taking water in it and then blowing it out. And whoever seeks refuge in Allah from the punishment of the fire, let him say: 'A'udhu billahis-sam'i-l-'alimi minash-shaitani-r-rajim' (I seek refuge in Allah, the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing, from the accursed Satan). And when he washes his face, let him say: 'Allahumma bayyid wajhi yawma tabyaduddu wujuhun wa taswaddu wujuhun' (O Allah, whiten my face on the Day when faces will be whitened and faces will be blackened). And when he washes his hands, let him say: 'Allahumma a'tini kitabi biyamini wa hasibni hisaban yaseeran' (O Allah, give me my record in my right hand and bring me to a easy reckoning). And when he washes his feet, let him say: 'Allahumma thabbitni 'ala-s-sirati yawma tazillu fihil-aqdam' (O Allah, make me firm on the sirat on the Day when feet will slip).
