Dua for Spiritual and Physical Purity at Dawn

Daily Morning Routine
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 2722

O Allah, grant my soul its taqwa (consciousness of You), and purify it, for You are the Best Purifier. You are its Protector and its Master. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from knowledge that does not benefit, from a heart that does not feel humbled, from a soul that is not satisfied, and from a supplication that is not answered.

When to Read

This powerful supplication is ideally recited in the morning after Fajr prayer, as part of your daily routine. It's a beautiful way to begin your day by asking Allah for inner cleanliness and protection against spiritual maladies, aligning your intentions and actions with His guidance from the very start.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincere intention and focus, visualizing yourself receiving Allah's blessings of purity. Turn to Allah with a humble heart, acknowledging His power to grant you what you ask. It can be recited while sitting, or standing, but always with the heart turned towards your Creator. Repeating it with mindfulness helps internalize its meaning.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encompasses profound requests for spiritual well-being. By asking for taqwa, we seek Allah's protection and guidance in fearing Him and remaining conscious of Him in all our actions. Asking for purification of the soul is a plea for inner cleansing from all sins and negative traits. Seeking refuge from unbeneficial knowledge shields us from seeking or possessing that which leads us astray or does not bring us closer to Allah. A humbled heart is one that is receptive to truth and readily submits to Allah's will. A satisfied soul is content with what Allah has decreed and avoids greed and envy. Finally, seeking refuge from unanswered prayers highlights our need for Allah's mercy and acceptance of our duas. It's a comprehensive request for a pure heart, a knowledgeable mind, and an accepted life.
