Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to supplicate: 'Allahumma bika asbahna, wa bika amsayna, wa bika nahya, wa bika namut, wa ilaikan-nushoor.' (O Allah, by Your grace we have reached the morning, and by Your grace we will reach the evening. By Your grace we live and by Your grace we die, and to You is the final return.) And when he died, his companions said: 'Allahumma bika asbahna, wa bika amsayna, wa bika nahya, wa bika namut, wa ilaikan-masir.' (O Allah, by Your grace we have reached the morning, and by Your grace we will reach the evening. By Your grace we live and by Your grace we die, and to You is the destination.) So he said: 'Say: 'Allahumma bika asbahna, wa bika amsayna, wa bika nahya, wa bika namut, wa ilaikan-nushoor.' - Sahih Muslim 2708
