O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil of my hearing, and from the evil of my sight, and from the evil of my tongue, and from the evil of my heart, and from the evil of my semen.
Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min sharri sam'i wa min sharri basari wa min sharri lisani wa min sharri qalbi wa min sharri maniyyi
When to Read
This powerful dua should be recited in the morning, ideally after Fajr prayer, as part of our daily remembrance (dhikr) and seeking Allah's protection. The morning is a critical time to set our intentions and ask Allah to safeguard us from the subtle and overt evils that can affect our faith and actions throughout the day.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincere conviction, focusing on each part of the supplication. Raise your hands as you would in any other dua. It's best to say it after finishing your morning dhikr, ensuring your heart is present and mindful of the words you are uttering and the protection you are seeking from the Almighty.
Virtues & Benefits
Hypocrisy (nifaq) is a grave spiritual disease that can subtly erode a believer's faith. This dua, taught to us by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, is a comprehensive shield. By seeking refuge from the evils associated with our hearing (falsehoods, backbiting), sight (forbidden things), tongue (lies, slander), heart (ill intentions, doubts), and our private parts (which relates to maintaining chastity and avoiding sins of lust, a form of inner corruption), we are asking Allah to purify our faculties and protect our inner state from falling into hypocrisy. It's a proactive step to ensure our outward actions align with our inward belief.

Narrated by Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to supplicate: 'Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min sharri sam'i, wa min sharri basari, wa min sharri lisani, wa min sharri qalbi, wa min sharri maniyyi.' (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil of my hearing, and from the evil of my sight, and from the evil of my tongue, and from the evil of my heart, and from the evil of my semen.)
