اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا.
O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and deeds that are accepted.
Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.
When to Read
This is a powerful dua to recite immediately after waking up in the morning, before starting your daily activities. It sets a positive intention for the day, asking Allah for what is truly beneficial for you in this life and the Hereafter.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and a focused heart. Imagine the meaning as you say the words: asking for knowledge that benefits, sustenance that is pure, and actions that are pleasing to Allah. It's best recited while facing the Qiblah, with hands raised, though not obligatory.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua encapsulates seeking the best for oneself in three crucial areas: 1. **Beneficial Knowledge ('Ilman Nafi'an):** Knowledge that leads to righteous action, understanding of faith, and closeness to Allah. It's not just about accumulating information, but acquiring wisdom that guides us. 2. **Good Provision (Rizqan Tayyiban):** Asking for sustenance that is lawful, pure, and blessed, whether it be wealth, health, family, or other blessings. 3. **Accepted Deeds ('Amalan Mutaqabbalan):** The ultimate goal is for our worship and actions to be accepted by Allah. This requires sincerity (ikhlas) and adherence to the Sunnah. By asking for these three things, we are essentially asking Allah to grant us a life that is well-lived, pleasing to Him, and ultimately leads to success in the Hereafter.
Source & Authentication
Narrated by Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said the Fajr prayer, he would say after finishing the prayer: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.' (O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and deeds that are accepted.)
