Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 7:41

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا

O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and acceptable deeds.

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan

How to Read

Understand the meaning of each request: knowledge that benefits you and others, provision that is pure and lawful, and deeds that are accepted by Allah. Raise your hands slightly as you make this supplication.

Virtues & Benefits

Reciting this dua in the morning invites Allah's blessings and protection for the day ahead. It encompasses seeking three essential aspects for a fulfilling life: beneficial knowledge that guides your actions, pure sustenance that nourishes your body and soul, and righteous deeds that are accepted, leading to reward in this life and the Hereafter. This supplication aligns your intentions with seeking what is pleasing to Allah, making your entire day an act of worship.

Source & Authentication

The full context involves several morning supplications. This particular phrase is part of a larger supplication made by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in the morning: 'When the Prophet ﷺ woke up in the morning, he would say: 'Allahumma inna nas'aluka an taj'al amalana kullahu salihā, wa liwajhik khāliṣan, wa la taj'al li ahadin fīhi shai'ā' (O Allah, we ask You to make all our deeds righteous, purely for Your sake, and do not let anyone share in it). Then he would recite: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan' (O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and acceptable deeds). He would say this three times.' (Referenced in various collections, with variations, often cited as part of the morning supplications. The essence is found in authentic collections like Sahih Muslim in the context of morning duas).
