Sahih HadithSunan Ibn Majah 925

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلاً مُتَقَبَّلاً

O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, pure provision, and acceptable deeds.

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.

When to Read

This beautiful dua is best recited first thing in the morning, right after waking up and before engaging with the day's activities. It sets a positive and focused intention for your interactions and work.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and a clear intention. Picture the meaning as you say it: asking Allah for knowledge that benefits you and others, sustenance that is lawful and good, and actions that He accepts. Raising your hands slightly while making dua is a Sunnah, though not obligatory for this specific dua.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encapsulates seeking the best in three crucial aspects of life: knowledge that guides you, provision that sustains you lawfully, and deeds that bring you closer to Allah. By asking for beneficial knowledge, you are seeking wisdom to navigate your day correctly. Asking for tayyib rizq (pure provision) ensures that your livelihood is blessed and free from haram. Finally, asking for mutaqabbal 'amal (acceptable deeds) means you're seeking the ultimate acceptance from Allah for all your efforts, big or small, in your daily interactions and work. This comprehensive request aligns your intentions with Allah's pleasure for the entire day.

Source & Authentication

Narrated by Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her): The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to say, when he performed the morning prayer, and had finished it, while he was in his place of prayer: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.' (O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, pure provision, and acceptable deeds.)
