When to Read
This beautiful and comprehensive dua is perfect to recite right after waking up, before the day's activities truly begin. Imagine you've just stirred, the house is still quiet, and your little ones are just starting to stir too. This is a powerful moment to set the intention for the entire day for yourself and your family. Recite it as you're getting out of bed, or perhaps as you're preparing breakfast, focusing your heart on the requests you're making to Allah.
How to Read
With sincerity and focus, turn to Allah as you begin your day. Raise your hands slightly if you are able, and with a hopeful heart, utter these words. Picture the beneficial knowledge flowing into your mind, the good provision gracing your table, and your efforts in raising your children being accepted by Allah. It's about more than just the words; it's about the intention and the deep reliance on our Creator for success in our daily lives, especially when it involves the precious souls entrusted to our care.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua is a cornerstone for starting the day with purpose. 'Ilman naafi'an' (beneficial knowledge) guides us in understanding our Deen and our responsibilities, especially as parents. Rizqan tayyiban (good provision) encompasses not just sustenance but also the blessings and purity in all aspects of our lives, which directly impacts our children's well-being. 'Amalan mutaqabbalan' (accepted deeds) is the ultimate goal – that our efforts in worship, work, and especially in raising our children according to Islamic principles are recognized and rewarded by Allah. This single dua sets a positive, intention-driven tone for a day filled with blessings for you and your children.
Source & Authentication
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to supplicate upon waking up, saying: 'Al-hamdulillahilladhi ahyaanaa ba'da maa amaatanaa wa ilayhin-nushoor.' (Praise be to Allah Who revived us after causing us to die, and to Him is the final return.) Then he would say: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.' (O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and deeds that are accepted.)
