بِسْمِ اللهِ، تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللهِ، وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللهِ
In the name of Allah, I rely on Allah, and there is no might nor power except with Allah.
Bismillahi, tawakkaltu 'alallahi, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah
When to Read
This beautiful invocation is perfect to recite right after waking up, before you even step out of bed or begin your day's activities. It sets a tone of complete reliance on Allah (SWT) for everything, including our ability to be kind and compassionate.
How to Read
Recite this sincerely, feeling the meaning of each word. It’s a declaration of your dependence on Allah for all your actions and your strength, which is the very foundation of having compassion for His creation.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua is more than just words; it's a powerful affirmation of Tawhid (Oneness of Allah) and a shield for the one who says it. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ promised that whoever says this, it will be said to them: 'You have been sufficed, defended, and guided.' (Sunan Abi Dawud 5095). When we feel sufficed and protected by Allah, it frees us up to extend that feeling of security and mercy to others, making it easier to approach our day with compassion for all of Allah's creation.

Narrated by Anas: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'When a person goes out of his house and says: Bismillahi, tawakkaltu 'alallahi, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah (In the name of Allah, I rely on Allah, and there is no might nor power except with Allah), it will be said to him: You have been sufficed, defended, and guided. Satan will be kept away from him, and Satan will say to another Satan: How can you deal with a person who has been sufficed, defended, and guided?'
