Leaving Bathroom
Hasan HadithSunan Ibn Majah 312

غُفْرَانَكَ، الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَذْهَبَ عَنِّي الْأَذَى وَعَافَانِي

I seek Your forgiveness. All praise is due to Allah, Who removed harm from me and granted me well-being.

Ghufranak. Alhamdulillahi alladhi adh-haba 'anni al-adha wa 'afani.

When to Read

This dua is recited immediately after exiting the toilet (bathroom). It's a beautiful practice that marks the transition from a state of needing to relieve oneself to returning to a state of purity and readiness to engage with the world again.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity after you have finished using the toilet and are about to exit. It's a moment of reflection and gratitude. Ideally, you'd say it as you are standing up or taking your first step out of the place of need.

Virtues & Benefits

This supplication embodies a profound sense of gratitude and humility. By seeking Allah's forgiveness (Ghufranak), we acknowledge our constant need for His mercy. The second part, 'All praise is due to Allah, Who removed harm from me and granted me well-being,' highlights two critical blessings: the relief from physical discomfort and the maintenance of good health. It reminds us that even seemingly simple bodily functions are gifts from Allah, and His relief is a form of healing. This practice aligns our daily actions with remembrance of Allah, turning ordinary moments into opportunities for spiritual connection.

Source & Authentication

It was narrated from 'Aishah that when the Prophet (ﷺ) came out of the toilet, he would say: 'Ghufranak. Alhamdulillahi alladhi adh-haba 'anni al-adha wa 'afani.' (I seek Your forgiveness. All praise is due to Allah, Who removed harm from me and granted me well-being.)
