اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the male and female jinn/evil spirits.
Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-khubuthi wal-khaba'ith
When to Read
This dua is recited before entering the toilet (for the male and female jinn specifically associated with those places). However, the essence of seeking refuge from evil is continuous. While the specific dua is before entering, the consciousness of seeking Allah’s protection should remain.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction before stepping into the toilet. Focus on the meaning and the act of seeking Allah's protection from all forms of evil, particularly those that may inhabit such places.
Virtues & Benefits
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us this dua to protect ourselves from the evil of the jinn, both male and female, who are known to frequent places of impurity. By reciting it, we invoke Allah's safeguard over us, asking Him to shield us from their harm and mischief. It's a beautiful reminder of how Islam guides us in even the most mundane aspects of life, connecting us to Allah's protection at all times.
