Ghufranak, alhamdulillahi alladhi adh-haba 'anni al-adha wa 'afani

When to Read

This beautiful dua is recited immediately after exiting the toilet or bathroom, a place associated with impurity. It marks a transition back to a state of purity, acknowledging Allah's blessing in removing physical discomfort and restoring well-being.

How to Read

Upon exiting the bathroom, pause for a moment. Recite this dua with sincerity, reflecting on the dual blessings of relief from discomfort and the return to a purified state. It is typically recited once, but can be repeated if one feels the need for extra remembrance.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encapsulates gratitude for two profound blessings: the removal of physical impurities (and the associated discomfort or harm) and the restoration of health and well-being ('afiyah). It reminds us that even the most mundane bodily functions are opportunities to remember and thank Allah. By seeking forgiveness upon exiting, we also acknowledge our own shortcomings and seek Allah's pardon, hoping to maintain a state of spiritual purity as well.
