The prayer of seeking guidance from Allah
O Allah, I seek Your guidance [in making a decision] with Your knowledge, and I seek ability [to do something] with Your power, and I ask for Your great bounty. For indeed You have power and I have no power, and You know and I do not know, and You are the Knower of the unseen. O Allah, if You know that this matter (mention the specific matter here) is good for me in my religion, my life, and my end โ or he said: in my present and my future โ then ordain it for me, make it easy for me, and bless it for me. But if You know that this matter is evil for me in my religion, my life, and my end โ or he said: in my present and my future โ then turn it away from me and turn me away from it, and ordain for me the good wherever it may be, and make me content with it.
O Allah, I seek Your guidance with Your knowledge, and seek ability with Your power, and I ask of Your great bounty. For indeed You have power, and I have no power; You have knowledge, and I have no knowledge; and You are the Knower of the unseen. O Allah, if You know that this matter (and the person should name their need here) is good for me in my religion, my livelihood, and my Hereafter (or: in my worldly life and my Hereafter), then decree it for me and make it easy for me, and then bless it for me. And if You know that this matter is bad for me in my religion, my livelihood, and my Hereafter (or: in my worldly life and my Hereafter), then turn it away from me, and turn me away from it, and decree for me whatever is good, and make me pleased with it.
O Allah, I seek Your guidance through Your knowledge, and I seek ability through Your power, and I ask of You Your great bounty. For indeed You have power, and I have no power; You have knowledge, and I have no knowledge; and You are the Knower of the unseen. O Allah, if You know that this matter โ [mention the matter here: marrying so-and-so] โ is good for me in my religion, my livelihood and the end of my affair (or: in my present and future affairs), then ordain it for me, make it easy for me, and bless it for me. And if You know that this matter is bad for me in my religion, my livelihood and the end of my affair (or: in my present and future affairs), then turn it away from me and turn me away from it, and ordain for me that which is good wherever it may be, and make me content with it.
O Allah, I seek Your guidance through Your knowledge, and I seek power through Your power, and I ask of Your immense bounty. For You decree and I cannot decree, You know and I do not know, and You are the Knower of the unseen. O Allah, if You know that this matter โ (then you mention your need, e.g., my resolve to stand for a just cause) โ is good for me in my religion, my livelihood, and my end [or he said: in my present and future affairs] โ then ordain it for me, make it easy for me, and bless it for me. And if You know that this matter is evil for me in my religion, my livelihood, and my end [or he said: in my present and future affairs] โ then turn it away from me, and turn me away from it, and ordain for me whatever is good, and make me content with it.
O Allah, I seek Your guidance with Your knowledge, and Your power with Your might, and I ask of Your boundless grace. For indeed, You have power, and I have no power; You have knowledge, and I have no knowledge; and You are the Knower of the unseen. O Allah, if You know that this matter (name your need: moving to a specific place) is good for me in my religion, my livelihood, and my final destiny (or: in my present and future affairs), then decree it for me, make it easy for me, and bless it for me. And if You know that this matter is bad for me in my religion, my livelihood, and my final destiny (or: in my present and future affairs), then turn it away from me, and turn me away from it, and decree for me whatever is good, and make me content with it.
O Allah, I seek Your guidance through Your knowledge, and seek ability through Your power, and I ask of Your great bounty. For You have power, and I have no power; You have knowledge, and I have no knowledge; and You are the Knower of the unseen. O Allah, if You know that this matter (mention your need here: embracing a new community) is good for me in my religion, my livelihood, and the end of my affairs (or he said: for my present and my future), then ordain it for me, make it easy for me, and bless it for me. And if You know that this matter is evil for me in my religion, my livelihood, and the end of my affairs (or he said: for my present and my future), then turn it away from me, and turn me away from it, and ordain for me whatever is good, and make me satisfied with it.
O Allah, I seek Your counsel by Your knowledge, and I seek Your ability by Your power, and I ask You from Your immense bounty. For indeed, You are able and I am not, You know and I do not, and You are the Knower of the unseen. O Allah, if You know that this matter (and here you would mention your specific concern) is good for me in my religion, my livelihood, and the outcome of my affairs โ or he said: in the immediate and future consequence of my affairs โ then decree it for me and make it easy for me and then bless me in it. And if You know that this matter is bad for me in my livelihood, and the outcome of my affairs โ or he said: in the immediate and future consequence of my affairs โ then turn it away from me and turn me away from it, and decree for me what is good wherever it may be, and then make me content with it.
O Allah, I ask You for the good of this matter and the good of what You have decreed for it, and I seek refuge with You from the evil of this matter and the evil of what You have decreed for it. (Note: The phrasing of the Istikhara dua is general and its meaning extends to seeking good in any decision, including the utilization of wealth.)
O Allah, I seek Your guidance through Your knowledge, and seek ability through Your power, and I ask of Your great bounty. For You have power, and I have no power; You have knowledge, and I have no knowledge; You are the Knower of the unseen. O Allah, if You know that this matter (mention the matter here) is good for me in my religion, my worldly life, and for my Hereafter (or 'in my present and future affairs'), then decree it for me, make it easy for me, and bless it for me. And if You know that this matter (mention the matter here) is bad for me in my religion, my worldly life, and my Hereafter (or 'in my present and future affairs'), then turn it away from me and turn me away from it, and decree for me whatever is good, and make me satisfied with it.
O Allah, I seek guidance from Your knowledge, and power from Your might, and I ask of Your immense bounty. For indeed You have power, and I have no power; You have knowledge, and I have no knowledge; and You are the Knower of the unseen. O Allah, if You know that this matter (and he mentions his need) is good for me in my religion, my livelihood, and the end of my affair - or he said: in my present and future - then decree it for me, make it easy for me, and bless it for me. O Allah, if You know that this matter is bad for me in my religion, my livelihood, and the end of my affair - or he said: in my present and future - then turn it away from me, and turn me away from it, and decree for me that which is good wherever it may be, and make me pleased with it.
O Allah, I seek guidance from Your knowledge and seek ability from Your power, and I ask from Your abundant grace. For indeed You have power, and I have no power; You have knowledge, and I have no knowledge; and You are the Knower of the unseen. O Allah, if You know that this matter (then the person mentions his need) is good for me in my religion, my livelihood, and my end โ and in another narration: in my present and my future โ then ordain it for me, make it easy for me, and bless it for me. And if You know that this matter is bad for me in my religion, my livelihood, and my end โ and in another narration: in my present and my future โ then turn it away from me, and turn me away from it, and ordain for me whatever is good, and make me content with it.
O Allah, I seek Your guidance through Your knowledge, and Your power through Your might, and I ask from Your great bounty. For indeed You have power, and I have no power; You have knowledge, and I have no knowledge; and You are the Knower of the unseen. O Allah, if You know that this matter - [mention your need here] - is good for me in my religion, my livelihood, and my final outcome (or he said: in my present and my future), then ordain it for me, make it easy for me, and bless it for me. And if You know that this matter - [mention your need here] - is evil for me in my religion, my livelihood, and my final outcome (or he said: in my present and my future), then turn it away from me, and turn me away from it, and ordain for me whatever is good, and make me satisfied with it.
