يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوبِ ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِي عَلَى دِينِكَ
O Turner of hearts, keep my heart firm on Your religion.
Ya muqallibal qulubi, thabbit qalbi 'ala deenik
When to Read
This is a deeply personal and profound supplication, best recited during your daily prayers, especially after the obligatory salah. It's also incredibly fitting when you feel a wavering in your faith, or are facing trials that test your conviction. Think of it as a spiritual anchor, something to hold onto when the winds of life try to sway you off course. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself made this dua constantly, showing us its immense importance for navigating the complexities of life with a steady heart.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and a humble heart, fully grasping the meaning of 'Turner of Hearts.' Imagine Allah (SWT) in control of all matters, including the very core of your being – your heart. Raise your hands as you would in supplication, and pour your heart out to your Creator. Make it a habit, a consistent plea, and Allah (SWT) willing, you will find your faith strengthened.
Virtues & Benefits
The primary benefit is achieving steadfastness on Islam, a state of being that every believer strives for. By asking Allah (SWT) to keep our hearts firm, we are seeking protection from misguidance and seeking a deeper connection to our Deen. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, despite being promised Paradise, would often repeat this dua, highlighting that even the most righteous among us need constant reliance on Allah (SWT) for spiritual stability. It’s a powerful reminder that true firmness comes from Him alone.
Source & Authentication
It was narrated from Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to frequently say: 'O Turner of hearts, keep my heart firm on Your religion.' I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what is it that makes you so concerned?' He said: 'O Umm Salamah, verily the children of Adam were created in the wombs of their mothers, forty days for the creation, and forty days for attachment, and forty days for a lump of flesh, then Allah sends an angel to breathe the spirit into him and writes down his provision, his deeds, his lifespan, and whether he is wretched or blessed. Verily, it is a record that is entered into.' (Sahih Muslim 2669)
