اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الهُدَى وَالتُّقَى وَالعَفَافَ وَالغِنَى.

O Allah, I ask You for guidance, piety, chastity, and contentment/self-sufficiency.

Allahumma inni as'alukal-huda wat-tuqa wal-'afafa wal-ghina.

When to Read

This dua is incredibly comprehensive and can be recited at any time, especially during moments of hardship, personal struggle, or when feeling overwhelmed. It's a potent supplication when navigating difficult circumstances, seeking divine assistance to remain grounded and humble.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction, understanding that you are asking the Creator of all things for the most essential provisions for your journey in this life and the next. Raise your hands if possible, face the Qiblah, and supplicate with a hopeful heart, knowing Allah is near and listens to every plea.

Virtues & Benefits

This supplication encapsulates profound requests. 'Guidance' (Al-Huda) is the light that illuminates the path of righteousness. 'Piety' (At-Tuqa) is the consciousness of Allah that prevents us from falling into sin. 'Chastity' (Al-'Afaf) encompasses protecting oneself from unlawful things, whether in sight, thought, or action. 'Contentment/Self-sufficiency' (Al-Ghinā) means being content with what Allah has provided, thus freeing oneself from dependence on others and reducing the sting of hardship. By asking for these, we are essentially asking to be shielded from arrogance, despair, and neediness, even when tested.
