Ya muqallib al-qulubi thabbit qalbi 'ala dinik
When to Read
This dua is profoundly relevant when struggling with any form of addiction or dependency, whether it be to substances, habits, or even harmful thoughts. Recite it during the day, especially after your obligatory prayers, or at night during Tahajjud (night prayer) when your heart is most open and seeking solace. It’s a constant reminder to anchor yourself to faith when the pull of addiction feels overwhelming.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincere conviction and a humble heart. Imagine your heart as something being turned and shaped by Allah. Visualize Allah strengthening your resolve and guiding your steps away from the harmful dependency. Raising your hands slightly while making dua, especially in supplication after prayers, is part of the Sunnah and can enhance focus and sincerity. Believe deeply that Allah is the only One who can grant you the strength and steadfastness to break free.
Virtues & Benefits
The primary benefit of this dua is invoking Allah's direct intervention in stabilizing your heart. Addiction often stems from internal struggles, emotional voids, or a lack of spiritual grounding. By asking Allah to keep your heart firm on His deen (religion), you are seeking the ultimate cure. This means seeking strength in faith, practicing patience, relying on Allah, and finding contentment through His remembrance, all of which are antithetical to the nature of addiction. It helps you redirect your focus from the object of dependency to your Creator, the source of true peace and fulfillment.
