اللَّهُمَّ اهْدِنِي وَ سَدِّدْنِي وَ اذْكُرْ بِالْهُدَى هِدَايَتَكَ، وَ بِالسَّدَادِ سَدَادَكَ
O Allah, guide me and set me aright, and remind with guidance Your guidance, and with rightness Your rightness.
Allahumma ihdini wa saddidni, wadhkur bil-huda hidayatak, wa bis-sadadi sadadak
When to Read
This dua is especially potent when you feel overwhelmed by conflicting information, public narratives, or when societal divisions make it difficult to see clear truth. Recite it after your obligatory prayers, or at any point during the day when you need clarity and direction amidst confusion. When listening to news, participating in discussions, or even just scrolling through social media, mentally make this dua.
How to Read
Recite this with sincerity, raising your hands as you would during supplication. Focus on the meaning of the words: asking Allah to actively guide your heart and mind towards the truth and to direct your actions in a way that is sound and correct. Understand that 'sadad' means rectitude, being on the straight path, making sound judgments, and speaking truthfully.
Virtues & Benefits
This supplication directly asks Allah for the two most crucial elements needed in times of confusion: guidance (hidayah) and soundness/rectitude (sadad). Hidayah illuminates the path, while sadad ensures you walk it correctly and make the right choices. It’s a comprehensive request for divine assistance in navigating life's complexities, especially when the lines between truth and falsehood blur. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself used to recite this comprehensive dua.
