My Lord, grant me from among the righteous (children).

Rabbi hab li minas-saliheen

When to Read

This foundational dua can be recited anytime, especially during the times when supplications are more readily answered, such as between the adhan and iqamah, in the last third of the night, or after obligatory prayers. It's particularly meaningful to make this dua when you are feeling a deep yearning for your children to be firm on their faith and to grow into righteous individuals.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincere intention and complete reliance on Allah. Raise your hands as you would in any supplication, facing the Qiblah if possible. Believe that Allah hears your call and will grant your request in the best way He sees fit. You can make this a regular part of your daily supplications, whispering it after your prayers or anytime you remember your children and your desire for their spiritual well-being.

Virtues & Benefits

This verse is a beautiful supplication made by Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) when he was leaving his son Isma'il and his mother Hajar in Makkah. It embodies the ultimate parental hope: that one's children grow up to be righteous servants of Allah. Reciting this dua is a direct emulation of a beloved Prophet's example, and Allah promises to respond to the sincere supplications of His believers. It instills a sense of peace and hope, knowing that you are actively seeking Allah's help for your children's spiritual journey.
