Guidance & Hidayah
Hasan HadithSunan At-Tirmidhi 3522

يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوبِ ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِي عَلَى دِينِكَ

O Turner of the hearts, make my heart firm on Your religion.

Ya muqallibal-qulubi, thabbit qalbi 'ala deenik

When to Read

This is a foundational dua that can be recited at any time, especially during moments of reflection, after salah, or when facing personal challenges that might test one's conviction. It's particularly relevant when you feel your faith wavering or when you witness events that make you ponder the transient nature of this life and the permanence of the Hereafter.

How to Read

Recite this dua sincerely, with full conviction in Allah's power to control and stabilize your heart. Understand that our hearts are inherently in Allah's grip, and He is the only one who can keep them firm. Reflect on the meaning as you say it, visualizing your faith becoming as strong and unshakeable as a mountain. It's often recommended to raise your hands slightly in supplication, as was the practice of the Prophet ﷺ in many duas.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua is a direct supplication to Allah, the Controller of all affairs, asking for the most crucial element of our faith: steadfastness. In a world filled with distractions and trials, maintaining firm faith (thabat) is essential for navigating life's journey and achieving success in the hereafter. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself, despite being the most pious of creation, frequently turned to Allah with this very plea, highlighting its immense importance. It's a recognition of our complete dependence on Allah for maintaining our connection with Him and adhering to His guidance.

Source & Authentication

Narrated by Abdullah bin Amr bin Al-'As (may Allah be pleased with him): I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say: 'Verily, the hearts of the Children of Adam are between the two fingers of the Most Merciful, changing them as He wills.' Then he said: 'O Allah, the Turner of the hearts, turn our hearts to Your obedience.' (Sunan At-Tirmidhi 3522). Another narration from Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) states: The supplication most frequent of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was: 'O Controller of the heart, keep my heart firm on Your religion.' (Sunan At-Tirmidhi 3522).
