Dua for Recognizing Allah's Presence

Guidance & Hidayah
Hasan HadithSunan Ibn Majah 3834

O Allah, show me the truth as truth, and grant me the ability to follow it; and show me falsehood as falsehood, and grant me the ability to abstain from it; and do not make it confusing for me, lest I follow my own desires.

Allahumma arinal-haqqa haqqan warzuqni ittiba'ahu, wa arinal-batila batilan warzuqni ijtinabahu, wa la taj'alhu multabisan 'alayya fa-attabi'a hawahu

When to Read

This is a powerful dua to recite at any time, but especially beneficial when facing decisions, feeling uncertain about right and wrong, or when starting any act of worship or daily task. It's particularly relevant during times of trial or when you feel your resolve weakening. Making it a habit after prayers, perhaps during sujood, can deeply embed this intention into your daily spiritual life.

How to Read

Recite with sincerity and a clear intention of seeking Allah's guidance. Picture in your mind the clarity you wish to achieve in discerning truth from falsehood. Reflect on your own actions and desires, asking Allah to help you align them with His commands. Repeating it regularly, especially during the times mentioned in 'whenToRead,' will help internalize its meaning and cultivate a constantly guided heart.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua is a direct plea to Allah for discernment, the very essence of true guidance (hidayah). By asking to see truth as truth and falsehood as falsehood, you are seeking clarity to navigate life's complexities. This prevents falling into misguidance, which often stems from confusing the two or being swayed by personal whims. Following this guidance, as the dua requests, is how we truly worship Allah and live a life pleasing to Him, ensuring our acts of worship are accepted and our daily lives are lived in His remembrance.
