When to Read
This is a comprehensive dua that can be recited at any time, but it's particularly potent when offered during your daily prayers (after the Tashahhud, before the Salam), during Du'a during the night, or anytime you feel a deep need for direction and clarity in your life. It’s a plea for the internal compass that steers us towards what is pleasing to Allah, ensuring our actions are meaningful and purposeful.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincere intention and a humble heart. Raise your hands as you would in supplication. Focus on the meaning of each word: 'guidance' (al-huda) to know the right path, 'piety' (at-tuqa) to fear Allah and stay away from sin, 'chastity' (al-'afaf) to be content with what Allah has given you and avoid what is unlawful or unnecessary, and 'contentment' (al-ghina) to feel rich in your heart, independent of material wealth. Believe that Allah hears your sincere plea.
Virtues & Benefits
This powerful dua encapsulates a complete request for a life well-lived. Guidance (al-huda) ensures you know the right way; piety (at-tuqa) gives you the strength to follow it; chastity (al-'afaf) protects your heart and actions; and contentment (al-ghina) brings inner peace and satisfaction, regardless of external circumstances. By asking for these, you are essentially requesting the tools and state of being that lead to a life of purpose, aligned with Allah's will.
