اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْهُدَىٰ وَالتُّقَىٰ وَالْعَفَافَ وَالْغِنَىٰ
O Allah, I ask You for guidance, piety, chastity, and contentment.
Allahumma inni as'alukal-huda wat-tuqa wal-'afafa wal-ghina
When to Read
This is a comprehensive dua that can be recited at any time, particularly after Salah (after the Tasleem, before speaking), during the night, or whenever you feel the need for divine support to navigate the challenges and temptations of the modern world. It's especially relevant when exposed to the constant stream of information and influences that can lead us astray.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and full conviction in Allah's power to grant it. Raise your hands as you would during supplication. Focus on the meaning of each word and the profound requests being made. Believe that Allah, in His infinite mercy, will respond to your sincere plea.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua encapsulates a request for the highest forms of well-being in this life and the next. Guidance (huda) is the light that illuminates our path, piety (tuqa) is the shield that protects us from wrongdoing, chastity ('afafa) helps us maintain our honor and purity, and contentment (ghina) frees us from the need for others and the anxieties of accumulation. By asking for these, we are essentially seeking protection against the allure of fitnah, which often preys on a lack of guidance, weak piety, moral compromise, and insatiable desires.
