O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the passing away of Your blessings, and from the change of Your protection, and from the sudden vengeance of Your punishment, and from all of Your displeasure.
Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min zawali ni'matika, wa tahawwuli 'afiyatika, wa fu'jati niqmatika, wa jami'i sakhathik.
When to Read
This is a powerful supplication the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would often make. It's particularly relevant when we feel our connection to Allah weakening, or when we're tempted to become comfortable in our spiritual state. Reciting it regularly, especially after Salah or in the morning and evening, can help us remain vigilant and seeking Allah's protection from spiritual decline.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and a heartfelt understanding of its meaning. Raise your hands as you would during other supplications. Believe that Allah is the only one who can protect you from such states. The Prophet ﷺ would say this routinely, highlighting the importance of consistent reliance on Allah.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua is a comprehensive shield against spiritual and worldly decline. By seeking refuge in Allah from the 'passing away of Your blessings,' we are asking Him to preserve our faith, our health, our provision, and all the good He has bestowed upon us. The 'change of Your protection' guards us against unforeseen calamities and deviations from the right path. The plea against 'sudden vengeance' and 'all of Your displeasure' acknowledges our need for Allah's mercy and forbearance, which prevent us from falling into states of complacency or sin that would anger Him. It keeps us mindful that our worship and connection with Allah are not static but require constant effort and seeking His help.
