اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا
O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, pure provision, and accepted deeds.
Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan
When to Read
This dua is excellent to recite at any time, but particularly potent when seeking knowledge, before attending a lecture, visiting a scholar, or commencing a study session. It's a prayer for the very foundation of learning: beneficial knowledge.
How to Read
Recite this sincerely, with full conviction in Allah's power to grant what is asked. Raise your hands if possible. It's best recited in the morning after Fajr prayer, as the Prophet ﷺ often did. Focus on the meaning: you're not just asking for information, but for knowledge that benefits your heart, actions, and hereafter.
Virtues & Benefits
This beautiful dua encapsulates three essential pillars for a Muslim's life: beneficial knowledge ('ilman naafi'an) that guides us, pure provision (rizqan tayyiban) that sustains us, and accepted deeds ('amalan mutaqabbalan) that bring us closer to Allah. Seeking beneficial knowledge, especially from true scholars, is a direct path to understanding our Deen and acting upon it. This knowledge illuminates our path and prevents us from falling into innovation or misguidance.

Narrated by Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her): When the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) performed the dawn prayer, he would say: 'O Allah, I ask You for knowledge that is beneficial, provisions that are good and deeds that are accepted.' (Sahih Muslim 7:13)
