اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْهُدَى وَالتُّقَى وَالْعَفَافَ وَالْغِنَى.

O Allah, I ask You for guidance, piety, chastity, and self-sufficiency.

Allahumma inni as'alukal-huda wat-tuqa wal-'afafa wal-ghina.

When to Read

Recite this dua frequently, especially when feeling vulnerable to temptation or when seeking to strengthen your resolve against forbidden relationships. It's particularly beneficial to say it after your obligatory prayers or during the times when dua is more readily accepted, like the last third of the night or between the adhan and iqamah.

How to Read

Recite this concise yet comprehensive dua with sincerity and conviction. Understand the meaning of each request: 'guidance' (al-huda) to the right path, 'piety' (at-tuqa) to fear Allah and stay away from His prohibitions, 'chastity' (al-'afaf) to be content with what is lawful and abstain from the unlawful, and 'self-sufficiency' (al-ghina) to be free from need of others, which often stems from lawful means.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encapsulates a holistic request for spiritual well-being and protection. Asking for guidance and piety are the foundations of a strong faith, enabling one to discern right from wrong. The request for chastity directly addresses the need to guard oneself against illicit relationships, and self-sufficiency helps prevent situations where one might be tempted by unlawful means due to desperation. By asking for these, we align our desires with Allah's pleasure and seek His help in maintaining our dignity and faith.
