اللَّهُمَّ آتِنِي هُدَاكَ وَاهْدِنِي وَسَدِّدْنِي وَاذْكُرْ بِهِدَايَتِكَ ضَلَالَتِي وَعَلِّمْنِي بِتَوْفِيقِكَ رُشْدِي
O Allah, grant me Your guidance and guide me, and make me firm, and by Your guidance, awaken me from my misguidance, and by Your success, teach me sound judgment.
Allahumma aatini hudaka wahdini wa saddidni wadhkur bi hidayatika dalalati wa 'allimni bitawfiqika rushdi

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this dua to a companion named 'Abdullah bin 'Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) when he complained about the excessive amount of hadith he was hearing and his fear of forgetting. The Prophet ﷺ advised him to write everything down, and when 'Abdullah complained again, the Prophet ﷺ said: 'The one who is holding my hand is grasping the best way to be guided.' Then he taught him this dua: 'Allahumma aatini hudaka wahdini wa saddidni wadhkur bi hidayatika dalalati wa 'allimni bitawfiqika rushdi.' (O Allah, grant me Your guidance and guide me, and make me firm, and by Your guidance, awaken me from my misguidance, and by Your success, teach me sound judgment.)
