Virtues & Benefits
This dua encompasses three essential pillars for a balanced and righteous life: beneficial knowledge, which guides our actions; goodly provision, which sustains us without leading to heedlessness; and accepted deeds, the ultimate goal of our worship and efforts. By asking for these, we align our worldly and spiritual aspirations with Allah's pleasure. The Prophet's ﷺ practice of reciting this highlights its importance in seeking Allah's help for both spiritual and worldly well-being.

The Prophet (ﷺ) never missed saying these words in the morning and evening: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka al-'afwa wal-'afiyah fid-dunya wal-akhirah. Allahumma inni as'aluka 'afwaka wa 'afiyatika fi dini wa dunyaya wa ahli wa mali. Allahumma-stur 'awrati wa amin raw'ati. Allahumma-hfadni min bayni yadayya wa min khalfi wa 'an yamini wa 'an shimali wa min fawqi. Wa a'udhu bi 'azamatika an ughtala min tahti.' (O Allah, I ask for Your pardon and my well-being in this world and the Hereafter. O Allah, I ask for Your pardon and my well-being in my religion, my worldly affairs, my family and my wealth. O Allah, conceal my weaknesses and secure me against what I fear. O Allah, protect me from before me and behind me, from my right and from my left, and from above me. And I seek refuge in Your Magnificence from being smitten from beneath me.)' And the Prophet (ﷺ) said: 'They are the words of security, and the Prophet (ﷺ) was keen to say them in the morning and in the evening. (Another narration): The Prophet (ﷺ) said: 'O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, and goodly provision, and acceptance of deeds.' (Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.)
