Virtues & Benefits
This supplication was taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to his beloved cousin, Abdullah ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him). The Prophet ﷺ made this specific dua for him, stating, 'O Allah, teach him the Book (Al-Kitab) and grant him understanding in the religion.' (Sunan Ibn Majah 254). By reciting this, we emulate the Prophet's ﷺ concern for his Ummah's understanding of Islam and seek the same blessing for ourselves. It's a direct plea for divine insight into the meanings and practical applications of Islamic teachings, aiming for a deeper comprehension that goes beyond mere memorization.
