Guidance & Hidayah
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 2710

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the decline of Your blessings, the change of Your protection, the suddenness of Your wrath, and all Your displeasure. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the whispers of the devils, and I seek refuge in You lest they be present with me.

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min zawali ni'matik, wa tahawwuli 'afiyatik, wa fuja'ati niqmatik, wa jami'i sakhatek. Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min hamazatis-shayatin, wa a'udhu bika an yahdurun.

When to Read

This dua is particularly powerful when you feel yourself becoming spiritually lazy or complacent. Recite it regularly, especially during times of ease, to ensure you remain vigilant in your worship and avoid taking Allah's blessings for granted. It's excellent to make this part of your daily supplications after salah or in the morning and evening.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincere intention and a humble heart. Raise your hands as you would during supplication. Focus on the meaning of the words and the need for Allah's constant protection against spiritual decline. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself would seek refuge in Allah with these words, emphasizing its importance.

Virtues & Benefits

Seeking refuge in Allah from the decline of His blessings and the change of His protection is crucial for spiritual stability. Complacency in worship can lead to a gradual distancing from Allah. This dua actively combats that by asking for protection against the subtle whispers of Shaytan that lead to spiritual laziness and disconnection from our faith. It's a proactive measure to maintain closeness to Allah and ensure our deeds remain pleasing to Him.

And he used to seek refuge in Him from the evil of what he had done and from the evil of what he had not done. And he used to seek refuge in Him from the evil of the callers to the Fire. And he used to seek refuge in Him from the evil of the devil, from the evil of the meeting, and from the evil of what is in the earth.
