Gatherings & Meetings
Hasan HadithSunan Ibn Majah 925

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا.

O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and deeds that are accepted.

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.

When to Read

Recite this dua before entering a challenging meeting, especially when you anticipate potential conflict, difficult questions, or a need for clarity and effective communication. It's a good practice to make it a habit before any significant discussion or presentation.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and focus, preferably with your hands raised slightly in supplication, as was the practice of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Understand the meaning of each phrase and internalize the request for Allah's help in navigating the situation with wisdom and acceptance.

Virtues & Benefits

This comprehensive dua seeks three essential elements for success in any endeavor, including meetings: beneficial knowledge to understand the situation, good provision (which can encompass understanding, eloquence, and a positive outcome), and accepted deeds, signifying that your efforts will be pleasing to Allah and yield good results. It helps set a positive intention and seeks divine assistance for a successful and meaningful engagement.

Source & Authentication

‘Abdullah bin Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Whoever has a need from Allah, or from any human being, let him say: ‘Subhana Allah wa bihamdihi, Subhan Allah Al-‘Adhim. Then let him ask Allah for what he needs.’ Then he said: 'Whoever says: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan' (O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and deeds that are accepted) when he wakes up in the morning, if he dies on that day, he will enter Paradise.' (This is a weaker narration that is often conflated with a stronger one about the morning dua. The core request for knowledge, provision, and accepted deeds is sound and beneficial.)
