O Allah, I ask You for the good of it (this partnership/venture) and the good of what You have predisposed it to, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of it and the evil of what You have predisposed it to.
Allahumma inni as'aluka min khairiha wa khairi ma jabaltaha 'alayhi, wa a'udhu bika min sharriha wa sharri ma jabaltaha 'alayhi.
When to Read
Recite this dua before or during the initial stages of considering a joint venture or partnership. It's particularly relevant when meeting potential collaborators for the first time or when making the final decision, seeking Allah's wisdom to guide you towards the best choice for your business endeavor.
How to Read
Make this supplication with sincerity and conviction, raising your hands as you would in other duas. Face the Qiblah if possible, and begin with praising Allah and sending blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Focus your heart on seeking Allah's guidance, understanding that He alone possesses true knowledge and wisdom.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua is a profound supplication for seeking Allah's blessing and protection in worldly affairs, especially in significant decisions like forming a partnership. By seeking the 'khair' (good) of the venture and its predispositions, you are entrusting the outcome to Allah. Seeking refuge from its 'sharr' (evil) acknowledges our limitations and dependence on divine protection against potential pitfalls, misunderstandings, or negative outcomes. It embodies the Islamic principle of striving while relying on Allah (Tawakkul).
Source & Authentication
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us to seek good and refuge from evil in many aspects of life. While this specific wording is often used when seeking a spouse, the principle of seeking the good and refuge from the evil of a matter, and its inherent predispositions, is a universal principle applicable to any significant undertaking, including business ventures. The essence is seeking Allah's blessing for what is good and protection from what is harmful in any endeavor we embark upon.
