Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 7

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا

O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision, and acceptable deeds.

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan

When to Read

Recite this dua just before beginning any work, meeting, or study session. It's perfect for setting an intention for productivity and seeking Allah's blessing in your efforts, whether it's a team meeting, a solo project, or deep study.

How to Read

Face the Qiblah if possible. Raise your hands slightly, not to the shoulders but as if gesturing a gentle request. Begin with 'Bismillah'. Recite the dua with sincerity and a focused heart, visualizing the positive outcomes you seek from your work. Afterward, you can proceed with your tasks, remembering Allah throughout.

Virtues & Benefits

This comprehensive dua asks for three essential elements for success in any endeavor: beneficial knowledge ('ilman naafi'an) to guide your work, goodly provision (rizqan tayyiban) to sustain you, and acceptable deeds ('amalan mutaqabbalan) to ensure your efforts are pleasing to Allah and have lasting positive impact. It encapsulates the essence of seeking Allah's help for both worldly and spiritual success in your professional life.

Source & Authentication

Narrated by Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to say, after the Fajr prayer, when he had finished the prayer: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.' (O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision, and acceptable deeds.) Note: While this specific hadith is recited after Fajr, its core request for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision, and acceptable deeds is universally applicable to any task or endeavor where these elements are crucial.
