Dua for Steadfastness After Jumu'ah

Friday / Jumuah
Sahih HadithSunan Ibn Majah 925

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا.

O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, pure provision, and deeds that are accepted.

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.

When to Read

This dua is particularly potent to recite immediately after the Jumu'ah prayer. The spiritual energy from the congregational prayer and the khutbah is still fresh, making it an opportune time to ask Allah for continued strength and acceptance in our deeds. It’s a beautiful way to solidify the positive impact of Jumu'ah and seek His help to remain on the right path throughout the week.

How to Read

After finishing your prayers following the Jumu'ah, turn your attention to Allah. With sincerity and focus, recite this dua. Raise your hands if you feel inclined, as this is a practice associated with making dua. Reflect on the meaning of each request: asking for knowledge that guides us, sustenance that is lawful and good, and actions that are pleasing to Him. Be certain that Allah hears and responds to the sincere supplications of His servants.

Virtues & Benefits

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this comprehensive dua to his wife Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her). By asking for beneficial knowledge, we seek understanding that leads us closer to Allah and guides our actions. Requesting pure provision ensures that our livelihoods are obtained in ways that are pleasing to Him, free from unlawful gains. Most importantly, asking for accepted deeds means our efforts in worship and good works are not in vain but are acknowledged and rewarded by Allah. This dua is a powerful tool for spiritual growth and maintaining a strong connection with our Creator, especially after the spiritually uplifting experience of Jumu'ah.
