Friday / Jumuah
Hasan HadithSunan At-Tirmidhi 3501

O Allah, I ask You for patience in obeying You, and patience in abstaining from Your disobedience. I ask You for understanding in Your commands, and repentance before death, and comfort at death, and forgiveness after death. O Allah, make the pangs of death easy for us, and grant us salvation from the Fire, and pardon at the reckoning, and success in Paradise, and safety from the Fire, O Owner of Majesty and Honor. O Allah, Amen.

Allahumma inni as'aluka sabran 'ala ta'atik, wa sabran 'an ma'siyatik, wa as'alukal fahma fi amrik, wat tawbata qabla al-mawt, wa rahatan 'inda al-mawt, wa maghfiratan ba'da al-mawt. Allahumma hawwin 'alayna fi sakaratil mawt, wa najatan min an-nar, wa 'afwan 'inda al-hisab, wal fawza bil jannah, wan najata min an-nar, ya Dhal Jallali wal Ikram, Allahumma Amin.

Source & Authentication

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: 'When any of you wishes to ask Allah for something, he should ask Him with determination, and he should not say: O Allah, if You wish, give me, for no one can compel Allah.' Then he narrated the dua: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka sabran 'ala ta'atik, wa sabran 'an ma'siyatik, wa as'alukal fahma fi amrik, wat tawbata qabla al-mawt, wa rahatan 'inda al-mawt, wa maghfiratan ba'da al-mawt. Allahumma hawwin 'alayna fi sakaratil mawt, wa najatan min an-nar, wa 'afwan 'inda al-hisab, wal fawza bil jannah, wan najata min an-nar, ya Dhal Jallali wal Ikram, Allahumma Amin.' (Al-Tirmidhi narrated it and said: 'This is a gharib hadith').
