اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي عَبْدُكَ، ابْنُ عَبْدِكَ، ابْنُ أَمَتِكَ، نَاصِيَتِي بِيَدِكَ، مَاضٍ فِيَّ حُكْمُكَ، عَدْلٌ فِيَّ قَضَاؤُكَ، أَسْأَلُكَ بِكُلِّ اسْمٍ هُوَ لَكَ سَمَّيْتَ بِهِ نَفْسَكَ، أَوْ عَلَّمْتَهُ أَحَدًا مِنْ خَلْقِكَ، أَوْ أَنْزَلْتَهُ فِي كِتَابِكَ، أَوْ اسْتَأْثَرْتَ بِهِ فِي عِلْمِ الْغَيْبِ عِنْدَكَ، أَنْ تَجْعَلَ الْقُرْآنَ رَبِيعَ قَلْبِي، وَنُورَ صَدْرِي، وَجِلَاءَ حُزْنِي، وَذَهَابَ هَمِّي.
O Allah, indeed I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your female servant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is necessary. Your decision concerning me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself by, that You taught to any one of Your creation, that You revealed in Your Book, or that You have preserved in the knowledge of the unseen with You, to make the Qur'an the springtime of my heart, and the light of my chest, the banisher of my sadness, and the remover of my anxieties.
Allahumma inni 'abd-uka, ibnu 'abd-ika, ibnu amat-ika, naasiyatii bi-yadika, maadin fiyya hukm-uka, 'adlun fiyya qadaa'-uka. As'aluka bikulli-sm-in huwa laka sammaita bihi nafsaka, aw 'allamtahu ahadan min khalq-ika, aw anzaltahu fi kitaab-ika, aw ista'tharta bihi fi 'ilm-il-ghaybi 'indaka, an taj'ala al-Qur'aana rabii'a qalbi, wa nuura sadri, wa jalaa'a huzni, wa dhahaaba hammii.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, 'When the servant of Allah commits a sin, a black spot appears on his heart. If he repents, it is removed. If he increases (in sin), it increases, until his heart is fully covered in blackness.' (Tirmidhi 4386, Hasan). This dua, by seeking forgiveness and divine solace through the Qur'an, aims to remove that blackness and thus open the channels for Allah's assistance.

Ahmad reported in his Musnad, with a chain of transmission considered Hasan, that 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ never went to bed without reciting the Mufassal chapters of the Qur'an, and he would not wake up during the night without reciting the verses that came before the Mufassal chapters. He would ask about his wives, and if one of them was sick, he would supplicate for her with these words: O Allah, Lord of mankind, remove the harm, heal him – for You are the Healer, and there is no healing but Your healing, a healing that leaves no trace of illness.' Then he would say: 'Allahumma inni 'abd-uka, ibnu 'abd-ika, ibnu amat-ika, naasiyatii bi-yadika, maadin fiyya hukm-uka, 'adlun fiyya qadaa'-uka.
