اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلاً مُتَقَبَّلاً.
O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and acceptable deeds.
Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.
When to Read
This is a comprehensive dua taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to be recited after the Fajr prayer. It covers seeking blessings in knowledge, sustenance, and deeds, which are all interconnected with seeking Allah's pleasure and overcoming difficulties, including financial hardship.
How to Read
Recite this dua sincerely after completing the Fajr prayer. Raise your hands if you wish, and focus on the meaning of each part, asking Allah earnestly for what you seek. Ensure you are in a state of purity and facing the Qiblah if possible, though the primary focus is the sincerity of the heart.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua encapsulates seeking the best of both worlds. Beneficial knowledge opens doors to understanding Allah's guidance and navigating life's challenges. Good provision (rizq tayyib) not only refers to wealth but also to blessings in health, family, and time, which are essential for overcoming hardship. Acceptable deeds are those that are done with sincere intention and in accordance with the Sunnah, leading to Allah's acceptance and reward. By seeking these three, we are essentially asking Allah to bless our efforts and grant us ease, both spiritually and materially.
Source & Authentication
It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: "None of you should say: 'O Allah, forgive me if You wish, O Allah, bestow mercy on me if You wish.' He should ask for his needs from his Lord, Exalted and Majestic, for there is no one to compel Him." Then he mentioned a Hadith, and in it, it is narrated: The Prophet (ﷺ) used to say, "Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan." (O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and acceptable deeds.)
