Virtues & Benefits
This beautiful dua, often taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, is a cornerstone of Tawakkul (reliance on Allah). When we've exerted our best effort, this supplication reminds us that our sufficiency comes from Allah alone. It helps to alleviate anxiety and fear of the unknown by placing our trust in the One who controls all affairs. It shifts our focus from the outcome, which is beyond our direct control, to the One who orchestrates everything. This brings peace and contentment, regardless of the worldly results.
Source & Authentication
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: 'Whoever says when he wakes up in the morning: ‘Hasbiyallahu la ilaha illa Huwa, ‘alayhi tawakkaltu wa Huwa Rabbul ‘Arshil ‘Azeem.’ (Allah is sufficient for me. There is no god but Him. I have placed my trust in Him, and He is the Lord of the Mighty Throne), then Allah will suffice him for what worries him, in this world and the Hereafter.' (Sunan Abi Dawud 5070, narrated by Abu Ad-Darda). While this hadith specifically mentions saying it upon waking, the statement itself is a powerful declaration of Tawakkul that can be applied in various situations where one needs to entrust their affairs to Allah after doing their best.
