Exams
QuranQuran 20:25-28

رَبِّ اشْرَحْ لِي صَدْرِي وَيَسِّرْ لِي أَمْرِي وَاحْلُلْ عُقْدَةً مِّن لِّسَانِي يَفْقَهُوا قَوْلِي

My Lord, expand for me my breast, and make easy for me my task, and untie the knot from my tongue that they may understand my speech.

Rabbishrah lee sadree wa yassir lee amree wah lul 'uqdatam mil lisaanee yafqahoo qawlee

When to Read

This powerful supplication, famously made by Prophet Musa (Moses) ('alayhis salam) when he was tasked with confronting Pharaoh, is incredibly relevant for students facing exams. Recite it before you start studying, when you feel overwhelmed by the material, during breaks, and especially just before you enter the exam hall. It's a prayer for clarity, ease, and effective communication of knowledge.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincere intention and focus, visualizing Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) granting you clarity of mind and ease in understanding. Raise your hands in supplication if possible, and maintain a state of humility and reliance on Him. Remembering the context of Prophet Musa's ('alayhis salam) challenge can also add to its potency when making the dua.

Virtues & Benefits

This verse directly addresses the needs of a student: * **Expanded Chest (اشْرَحْ لِي صَدْرِي - *Ishrah lee sadree*):** This signifies opening the heart and mind to receive knowledge, dispelling confusion, anxiety, and mental blockages that hinder understanding. * **Ease of Task (وَيَسِّرْ لِي أَمْرِي - *Wa yassir lee amree*):** This is a request for Allah to make the process of learning and recalling information smooth and manageable, turning a difficult task into something achievable. * **Untied Knot (وَاحْلُلْ عُقْدَةً مِّن لِّسَانِي - *Wa hlul 'uqdatam mil lisaanee*):** While this refers to clear speech, it also metaphorically applies to grasping complex concepts and being able to articulate them clearly, as required in exams. It helps in overcoming intellectual 'knots' or difficulties in comprehending subjects. By reciting this, you are asking Allah to facilitate your journey of knowledge acquisition and application, making you more receptive and capable.
