This dua is perfect to recite before you begin your study session, or at any point when you feel your mind wandering. It's a humble request to the One who grants all knowledge, asking Him to make what you learn useful and to expand your understanding. Imagine yourself sitting down with your books, taking a deep breath, and making this sincere supplication.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and a clear intention to absorb and benefit from your studies. Raise your hands in supplication as you would for other duas, or recite it after your obligatory prayers. Focus on the meaning as you speak, internalizing the request for beneficial knowledge. Consistency is key; make it a habit before every study period.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua directly asks Allah to make your learning beneficial, meaning it will have a positive impact on your life, your actions, and your understanding of deen and dunya. It also asks for an increase in knowledge, which is highly praised in Islam. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself sought increase in knowledge, as stated in the Quran: "...and say, 'My Lord, increase me in knowledge.'" (Taha 20:114). This prayer taps into that divine source of wisdom and clarity.

Source & Authentication

It was narrated that Ibn Mas'ud said: The Prophet (ﷺ) said: 'There is no person who is taught knowledge, and then says: 'O Allah, benefit me by what You have taught me, teach me what is beneficial for me, and increase me in knowledge,' except that Allah grants him benefit from his knowledge.'
