My Lord, expand for me my breast [with security]; And make easy for me my task; And untie the knot from my tongue; So they may understand my speech.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua, famously recited by Prophet Musa (Moses) (peace be upon him), is directly from the Quran. It asks Allah for: 1. **Expansion of the chest (ishrah al-sadr):** This brings peace, confidence, and mental clarity, removing anxiety and doubt. 2. **Ease of task (yassir al-amr):** Allah makes difficult matters easy, including understanding complex subjects and answering exam questions. 3. **Untying the knot of the tongue (wahlul 'uqdah):** This ensures clear communication and the ability to express what you know without stammering or confusion. When applied to exams, it means being able to recall and write down your answers clearly and precisely.

And so when he came to it, he was called, 'O Moses! Indeed, I am your Lord, so remove your sandals. You are in the sacred valley of Tuwa. And I have chosen you, so listen [to what is revealed]. Indeed, I am Allah. There is no deity except Me, so worship Me and establish prayer for My remembrance. Indeed, the Hour is coming - I almost conceal it so that every soul will be recompensed for what it strives. So do not let one who does not believe in it and follows his desire turn you away from it, lest you perish. And [he was told], 'Throw down your staff.' But when he saw it writhing as if it were a snake, he turned in retreat and did not [look back]. [Allah said], 'O Moses, do not fear! Indeed, in My presence the messengers do not fear. [I am] except for him who commits unrighteousness and then exchanges it for good; and indeed, I am Forgiving and Merciful. And insert your hand into the opening of your garment; it will come out white, without harm, [and draw it] into yourself [to allay] your fear. That is the second sign, [and the third is] that you go to Pharaoh and the high [priests] - indeed, he has transgressed.' [Moses] said, 'My Lord, expand for me my breast [with security] and make easy for me my task and untie the knot from my tongue - [so they] may understand my speech.'
