اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ

O Allah, suffice me with what You have made lawful, from what You have made unlawful, and enrich me with Your bounty, so that I may not need to ask anyone else.

Allahummakfini bihalalika 'an haramika wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak

Virtues & Benefits

This powerful dua, taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, encapsulates a comprehensive request for well-being and sufficiency. When applied to seeking answers in exams, its benefits are manifold: * **Divine Clarity:** It's a direct appeal to Allah for guidance, asking Him to steer you away from incorrect choices (akin to unlawful things) and towards the right answers (akin to lawful provisions). * **Inner Peace:** By seeking sufficiency from Allah, you reduce anxiety and reliance on your own limited knowledge, fostering a sense of calm that aids concentration. * **Trust in Allah (Tawakkul):** It reinforces the believer's reliance on the Creator, understanding that ultimate success stems from His will and assistance. * **Honesty and Integrity:** It encourages seeking answers through legitimate means, rather than resorting to guesswork or illicit methods, aligning with the ethical principles of knowledge acquisition.

Source & Authentication

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this dua to his uncle, Al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him), saying: 'O my uncle, I shall give you, I shall bestow upon you, I shall grant you, I shall do ten things. You do ten things. Keep in your mind and say in your supplication (du'a): **'Allahummakfini bihalalika 'an haramika wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak'** (O Allah, suffice me with what You have made lawful, from what You have made unlawful, and enrich me with Your bounty, so that I may not need to ask anyone else.) And the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'O Abbas, O my uncle! Recite this du'a every day ten times in the morning and ten times in the evening, and if you have foam equal to the weight of the earth between your fingers, it would be sufficient for you (i.e. it would be enough to absolve you of sins).' — Sunan At-Tirmidhi 3563, graded Hasan Ghareeb.
