O Allah, Lord of the seven heavens, and Lord of the magnificent Throne. Our Lord and Lord of all things, the Splitter of the grain and the date-stone, the Revealer of the Torah, the Gospel, and the Quran. I seek refuge in You from the evil of all things that You are seizing by the forelock. O Allah, You are the First, there is nothing before You; You are the Last, there is nothing after You; You are the Outward, there is nothing above You; You are the Inward, there is nothing closer than You. Settle our debts for us and enrich us from poverty.
Allahumma Rabba as-samawati as-sab', wa Rabba al-'arshil-'adheem. Rabbana wa Rabba kulli shay', faliq al-habbi wan-nawa, wa munzil at-Tawrati wal-Injili wal-Furqan. A'udhu bika min sharri kulli shay'in anta akhidhun bi-nasiyatih. Allahumma anta al-Awwalu falaysa qablaka shay', wa anta al-Akhiru falaysa ba'daka shay', wa anta adh-Dhahiru falaysa fawqaka shay', wa anta al-Batinu falaysa dunaka shay'. Iqdi 'anna daynana wa aghnina min al-faqr.
When to Read
This powerful supplication is perfect for reciting before starting an exam, or even during it if you feel a complete blank. You can also make this dua with sincerity at any time you are facing difficulty and need Allah's assistance, especially when seeking clarity and remembrance.
How to Read
Make this dua with absolute conviction in Allah's power to help you. Utter the words clearly, focusing on their meaning. It is recommended to raise your hands slightly when making dua, though this is not a strict condition for this specific supplication as it's usually recited in a state where that might not be practical (like during an exam). Maintain a state of humility and reliance solely on Allah.
Virtues & Benefits
This comprehensive dua addresses multiple aspects of reliance on Allah. While the primary focus here is seeking Allah's help to bring forth knowledge (implied by seeking refuge from all evil and acknowledging Allah's dominion over all things), the hadith itself is primarily about seeking protection and the settling of debts. However, the core principle of turning to Allah in times of need, including mental struggles like forgetting information, is deeply ingrained in Islamic practice. When you sincerely ask Allah for help, He can open avenues you never thought possible. This includes making your mind clear, enabling you to recall what you've studied, and guiding your thoughts. As Allah says in the Quran: 'And when My servants ask you, [O Muhammad], concerning Me – indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls on Me.' (Al-Baqarah 2:186).

Narrated Abu Hurairah: The Prophet (ﷺ) used to supplicate: 'O Allah, Lord of the seven heavens, and Lord of the magnificent Throne. Settle our debts for us and enrich us from poverty.' (Sahih Muslim 2713)
