Hasan HadithSunan Ibn Majah 251

اللَّهُمَّ انْفَعْنِي بِمَا عَلَّمْتَنِي، وَعَلِّمْنِي مَا يَنْفَعُنِي، وَزِدْنِي عِلْمًا

O Allah, make beneficial for me what You have taught me, teach me what is beneficial for me, and increase me in knowledge.

Allahumma infa'ni bima 'allamtani, wa 'allimni ma yanfa'uni, wa zidni 'ilman

When to Read

Recite this dua before you begin studying, before you enter the exam hall, and at any point when you feel your mind drawing a blank or struggling to recall information. It's a powerful supplication to ask Allah to make the knowledge you've acquired accessible and useful, especially when you need it most.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and focus, ideally after performing Wudu (ablution) if possible, though not strictly required. Raise your hands if you are able. Imagine Allah accepting your humble request and granting you clarity and understanding. Visualize the information flowing easily to your mind. Repeat it a few times if needed, especially when feeling overwhelmed.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua is profound because it doesn't just ask for more knowledge, but for knowledge that is *beneficial* and for the ability to *benefit* from what we already know. It directly addresses the struggle of application and recall, which is crucial during exams. By asking Allah to make what we've learned useful, we're asking Him to unlock our minds and make the information readily available. This is a tangible way to seek Allah's assistance in our academic pursuits, recognizing that all success and understanding ultimately comes from Him.
