Seeking Allah's Help Against Laziness Before Sleep

Evening Adhkar
Sahih HadithSahih al-Bukhari 6369

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow. I seek refuge in You from helplessness and laziness. I seek refuge in You from cowardice and stinginess. I seek refuge in You from being overwhelmed by debt and overpowered by men.

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-hammi wal-hazani, wa a'udhu bika minal-'ajzi wal-kasali, wa a'udhu bika minal-jubni wal-bukhli, wa a'udhu bika min ghalabatid-dayni wa qahrir-rijali.

Virtues & Benefits

This comprehensive dua covers seeking refuge from significant burdens: mental distress (anxiety and sorrow), physical and spiritual weakness (helplessness and laziness), character flaws (cowardice and stinginess), and external pressures (debt and being overpowered). By reciting it, we actively acknowledge our dependence on Allah for overcoming these challenges. The specific mention of 'laziness' (الْكَسَلِ - al-kasali) directly addresses the struggle many face, especially when trying to be productive or even just preparing for rest.
